Covered Microwave Cooking Bowl
As I was eating my breakfast, I was thinking how much easier it was to make this morning. A lot of mornings I like hot cereal. I’m equal opportunity with my hot cereals. Oatmeal, Cream of Rice, Cream of Wheat, Maypo, Ralston, and even Coco Wheats are all good. Since it was a weekday, and I’m the only one eating it, I just make some for myself in the microwave. It’s easier and faster for a single serving. In fact, heating everything, such as butter or even chocolate, in the microwave has become easier since I discovered my covered microwave cooking bowl.
Previously, I used a big open bowl to heat or cook food in the microwave. It was precarious to get liquid in an open bowl over to the microwave. I balanced the open bowl on the left hand armrest with my left hand while driving the wheelchair with my right hand. It was awkward. Not to mention it was worse getting a hot bowl out of the microwave. Before I could even transport it, I needed to find a towel to grab the hot bowl. Next, I needed to move the bowl out of the microwave. This was strangely hard to do from a chair without tipping and spilling it. Balancing it to bring it back to the open counter was just stupid and dangerous. I did try to keep it tilted away from me in case it spilled so I wouldn’t burn myself.
I was online when the covered microwave cooking bowl caught my eye. It has a clip-on lid, with a vent on the top that can be set to open or closed. Hmm, a lid would keep my cereal from boiling over and making a mess of the microwave. I bought one and handed it to my husband to give me for Christmas. It hadn’t occurred to me when I bought it, how important the handle was going to be. Now, I have found that I can lift the bowl in and out easily and transport it without spills. The handle stays cool. I saw a larger one on Amazon and I am going to get one and maybe another of the smaller size. Who would think such a little thing would make my life so much easier in the kitchen?
